What to do
1. Know the symptoms
Fever, chills, headache, vomiting, muscle pain. Symptoms appear 10–15 days after a mosquito bite.
2. Get tested immediately
Go to any government health centre. Rapid diagnostic tests (RDTs) are fast and free.
3. Take the full course
Complete all prescribed medication even if you feel better early. Stopping early causes resistance.
4. Prevent re-infection
Sleep under insecticide-treated nets and eliminate standing water near your home.
Maternal Health Guide
Antenatal care is free at all government hospitals and health centres across The Gambia. Early registration before 12 weeks is strongly recommended for the health of both mother and baby.
